Silent failures in connected apps: what to watch for
HTTP 200 responses can hide empty payloads, partial batches, or events that were never scheduled. Silent failures live in the gap between “the call worked” and “the business outcome happened.”
Instrument expected volume. If Monday usually produces 4,000 order syncs and today produced 2,800 with no error logs, that is a health finding—not a quiet day.
Cross-check destinations. When source and destination counts diverge beyond an agreed tolerance, raise it in the weekly health report even if no alert fired.
Teach teams to treat “nothing broke” as incomplete evidence. Absence of alarms is not the same as confirmed delivery.
